When Arthur's family gets too crowded in their showbox of a house, it seems his late uncle Cyrus comes to his rescue by leaving
him a huge mansion in his will. Arriving at the glass house they learn that Uncle Cyrus had a strange habit of catching ghosts
and containing them within the glass walls using magic.
Thing get ugly when Arthur learns that Cyrus was catching the ghost to power an anchient evil device and that Cyrus arranged
for the death of Arthur's wife to help in this insane plane. The machine is on aurtomatic and the only question is how will
they escape alive?
Honestly, out of the two I would prefer the William Castle version. Allthough the effects are much better in this version
is far better I think the simpler plot of the first movie works better. Don't get me wrong I like this movie too. In fact
I do recommend this remake for it's own maret, if you never seen the first movie then you will really love this movie.
I GIVE IT...9 STARS
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ CHARACTERS (The likable characters really give this a punch)
+ REAL GHOST LEGENDS (Most of the ghosts I think were based on real ghost legends)
+ GHOST EFFECTS (Down right scary ghost effects)
+ STORY (Not quite as good of the sixties version, but stands on it's own merits)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- NOT ENOUGH STORY (It jumped from here to here to here without explaining everything)
- EVIL UNCLE (The original movie the dead uncle wasn't some power crazed madman)
