THE PLOT:
Nine stories of the Matrix told in stunning animation, and in Japanese Anime style. The stories range from the present of
the Matrix and how a hover ship discovers the Senteniels and have to escape with the information they discover.
Another tells the story of all this began, and how humanity hated the idea of living in a world of living machines which
sparks the war they are in now.
Still other twisted and strange tales of the Matrix, too many to get into on this page.
ZEDD'S OPINION:
I love the animation in this, all they different styles of aniamtion. From 3-D computer animation to typical anime designs
to something that looks like HEAVY METAL. But it was a little artsy fartsy for my taste, it was surreal. Too surreal at
times, surreal to the point of confusion. But all and all a good job and I give it....7 STARS
VOLTRON'S OPINION:
I agree with Zedd on this, but if you are watching the Matrix trilogy, then you must watch the ANIMATRIX before you watch
the last movie, trust me. It'll make MATRIX 3 make more sense and answer a few question that might arise if you didn't see
it. Anyway, I agree about being surreal. I also wish (speaking solely as a man) that it had more skin, I love anime because
they don't play around, nudity is not as bloody taboo and this should have had more skin and less surreal aspects...I give
it...6 STARS
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ ANIMATION (All the styles of animation was just fantastic)
+ VOICE OVER CAST (The voice over cast did a great job as well)
+ STORIES (For the most part, the stories are cool)
+ MUST SEE (If you plan to watch the MATRIX 3, then you must watch THE ANIMATRIX)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- SURREAL (A tad on the surreal sign, to the confusing points at times.)
- NO NUDITY (Voltron thought they should have had animated nudity.)
AND FINALLY....
- FAN BASED (If you aren't big on THE MATRIX series or ANIME in general, then this isn't the movie for you.)
