THE PLOT:

Alien pursue a terrible alien weapon in the hands of a rampaging humanoid. They pursue him to Earth, where they precide to kill him. Then leave. But what they aren't aware of is the device, the Laserblast is undamaged and neither is the control medal that goes around the neck. Billy Duncan is unliked by just about everybody in town (like Richard Marx in the music video THE RIVER.)

Even the local nerd picked on him, the local law harrased him for no reason and one day while Billy was trying to get away from the whole town he discovers the Laserblast, plus the destintergrated remains of the previous owner. What starts out as a toy becomes a weapon for revenge as Billy also finds the control device.

But as the alien take a U turn after being informed that the Laserblast control device was not destroyed Billy starts going through a monstreous transformation. Revenge comes with a high price and for Billy, it's his humanity.

ZEDD'S OPINION:

The moral is, stand up for yourself. If the local law is harassing you, you go to the State Police or sue the jerk. You don't put up with abuse, murder is not the answer. Or you might end up a green monster shoot anything that moves. The creature effects are good, keeping in mind the date and computer CGI was decades away. The acting was weak at points. But it has a great cast which includes Roddy McDowall and Keean Wynn. But if I was to point out one major flaw in this movie it would be the lack of a translation for the aliens. I mean I understand the idea of aliens, they don't speak english and that's good. But it really doesn't make any sense to show the aliens talking in the native tongue and not have at least subtitles. Those words that translate foreign and alien languages. What was the point of showing the aliens on the ship, IF WE DON'T KNOW WHAT THE **** THEY'RE SAYING!!!!!! That's my only complaint in a otherwise good film, I give LASERBLAST...8 STARS

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

I agree with everything Zedd said. Also what ever happened to "LASERBLAST 2". I know there was a sequel, I had a book of movie posters and it said "THE ULTIMATE ALIEN WEAPON IS BACK - LASERBLAST 2". I think I remember seeing it on cable once. But I can't find it, not even on the IMDB. Tell me I am not crazy, well not crazier then the norm anyway. Anyway, about the first movie, I give LASERBLAST 1, 8 STARS as well.

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ STORY (The story works and it is cool.)
+ CREATURE EFFECTS (The aliens and Billy's monster effects were cool.)
+ LASERBLAST DESIGN (I love the Laserblast and if I have my way, it'll be mine. The prop that is.)
+ CAST (A great cast deserves a pat on the back.)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):

- ACTING ISSUES (Some scenes were a tad over the top.)
- NO SUBTITLES (Why didn't have subtitles, what they were too expensive or something?)

AND FINALLY...

- WHERE'S LASERBLAST 2 (Can someone tell me what the hell happened to Laserblast 2?)
