Also Known As:
Octopus II (UK) (DVD title)
Strange murders and disappearances are happening around the New York Harbor, the Police suspect terrorists or drug smugglers
but one cop uncovers the truth which is more terrifying then any drug kingpin or terrorist. A giant octopus has made is home
in an old wreck in the harbor but no one believes the truth.
Okay, what's up with the title? RIVER OF FEAR, what river? There is no river in this movie, it stays in the harbor, the
salt water harbor the whole movie. So what's up with the title "river" of fear? Maybe they should have stuck with
Harbor of fear or just did Octopus II, would have made more sense then a title that has NOTHING to do with the movie. But
other then that it was a better movie then the first movie, 7 STARS.
Now, I got to admit I liked this movie way better then the first movie, the improved effects, the basic but improved storyline.
However there is still one or two thing wrong with this movie. OTHER then just a misleading title. One, the first movie
explained how the octopus got so big, atomic radiation bound for Cuba during the whole Cuban Missile Crisis, but this movie
was just a big Octopus in the harbor for no reason. Forgetting the fact giant octopi does exist except they hang out in way,
way deep water and do not attack metal ships. So why was this one in the harbor and not in way, way deep water? 7 STARS.
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):
+ STORY (For the most part works.)
+ CAST (The cast works.)
+ EFFECTS (Better then the first movie.)
+ CHARACTERS (Better then the first movie.)
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):
- TITLE (It all happens in the harbor, why RIVER of fear?)
- WHY (Also why was a creature that lives in the deepest depths in the harbor to begin with or was there another reason
why it was so big?)
- FAN BASED (If you don't like movies where the Sushi gets even, then this isn't for you.)
